Tea draining

Merron Stevens asked 10 months ago

Hi there, I have not yet taken the plunge but definitely interested in a system that recycles all my food waste. My only outstanding question is about the tea drainage. From reading other Q&A’s I understand that it is best to drain the liquid/tea every 2-3 days.  I am regularly away from home for a week at a time. And then there are holidays. Given this I am wondering if bokashi is right for me at the moment.  How do others manage this?

You can easily let the bin sit for a week or more without draining the tea.  It wont overflow, or be a problem.  The tea is only really being produced in the final week, or perhaps 10 days, of the ferment cycle of the bokashi bin anyhow.  Yes, many drain it every few days, but that’s simply by choice.
