tea-question
Hi,I’m in the process of creating a soil factory for my container garden on my patio. Therefore I only have potting soil to use for mixing into my pre compost. While I’m in the process of creating the pre compost, I was wondering if there would be any issues with taking the initial compost tea, diluted of course, and adding it to the potting soil ahead of beginning the soil factory process. Any do’s and don’ts related to this would be appreciated, thanks!
For a soil factory to be successful, you MUST use some amount of fresh garden soil in the beginning. It will not work if you use only potting soil in the beginning. Remember, in the soil factory we are trying to mimic nature, so you must start with some of the organisms that are present in garden soil already. It is these organisms which will expand and do the work of soil building. Our guidebook explains this. Adding the bokashi tea to the soil factory is not needed, and in fact should be avoided.
Hope that helps. Happy composting 🙂
