Storing Bokashi tea
- I store excess bokashi tea in a plastic bottle,after a time it seems to swell and when opening it make gas sound ,like after hours. Does it normal? Or what might it indicate ?

Gas build-up and swelling can occur when storing bokashi tea. The amount and frequency of this is based on the types of food that are put into the bin to begin with. This swelling and gas build-up is the result of the bokashi microbes feeding on the remaining sugars in the bokashi tea. Once the tea becomes deprived of sugars the bokashi microbes will begin to go dormant and then quickly die off. The availability of sugars will vary depending on the contents of the bokashi bucket and the length of time materials have been in the bokashi bucket. As such, we recommend that the bokashi tea is used within a few hours of being collected to ensure that the beneficial microbial life is healthy and thriving.
