Should soil-factory air tight?

I use a plastic box as soil factory in my basement. Should I air tight seal  the box after bury the pre-compost?

No.  For the soil factory, its better to have a very loosly fitting lid.  You do want some air circulation.  This will help with moisture content, which can sometimes be a concern.  To further help reduce moisture, you can also just add a little more dry garden soil to the container.
