Shanny asked 10 months ago

Hi, my compost starts to get moldy very soon. How can I avoid it and what do I do with this happens?

Thanks for the question. Mold in your bokashi bucket can be a sign that things are working well, or a sign that something has gone wrong. It really depends what color the mold is. White mold is absolutely fine. It is a sign that some air is getting in to the bucket (which is not ideal) but it is also a sign that the bokashi microbes are healthy and multiplying. Blue/black/green molds are all signs of putrification and suggest that something is wrong in the bokashi bucket.
