High Heat

Ben asked 3 months ago

Would a higher ambient temperature ruin bokashi? Or would the organic matter start to rot before the microbes take over because of the heat?

The bokashi microbes can survive a range of temperatures, however they thrive best at around ‘room’ temperature (21C/70F). The range that they can tolerate is approximately 10C/50F to 50C/122F. Temperatures outside of this range should be avoided, especially higher temperatures. Once the bokashi microbes die out, the rotting microbes will quickly take over.
