Comfrey leaves with powdery mildrew

I have comfrey plants, just recently, their leaves have powdery mildrew.  Can I still put these leaves and flowers into the kobashi bin?  Will the fermentation process kills the fungal disease?

There is mixed information about putting diseased plants into the compost. However, less persistent diseases such as powdery mildew will not survive long after the host plant material has degraded. Therefore you should be fine to add it to your bokashi bin. The microbes in the bokashi process will help to break the plant material down quickly and reduce the risk of the powdery mildew persisting. Plus, if you let the materials sit in the bokashi bin for twice the normal time, for 4 to 6 weeks, you can be more certain that the powdery mildew will be neutralized.
