What is the carbon footprint in the making, and later end of life, of the product? Is the plastic used in making the Bokashi recycled? Do you have a recycling program for Bokashi once the product is no longer usable?

We’ve not done a carbon footprint for the manufacture of our product. Our bokashi bins are BPA free, and are made from 100% virgin Poly-propylene (PP) food grade resin. As such, these PP containers are both durable for long term use, and will not leach any plastic residue into either the foods or liquids. This is an important consideration, as many bokashi households use their bokashi compost for growing food in their gardens. The bins can be recycled at the end of their life, which, in our experience, is at least 10 years.
