bokashi tap won’t pull out

Hi,
I just bought a set of bokashy buckets and I noticed that the taps won’t pull out at neither of them. I do not want to break them but I was wondering, is there a trick that I am unaware of?  I was following the instructions in the manual and it says that, before using the bokashy bucket the tap needs to be pulled out. Why can’t I do I it? Could you please help?
