Aphids and Cabbage Worms

Susan B asked 2 months ago

I just pulled out a few daikon radish plants that were infected with both aphids and cabbage worms. I’d like to chop leaves up – complete with the pests – and put them in the bin. Any problems with that plan?

The bokashi process would likely kill the aphids and cabbage worms but it can’t be guaranteed. We normally recommend to keep rotten and diseased items out of the bokashi bin. However, if you do put these items in the bin, we advise to keep them to a small amount, to give an extra sprinkle of bokashi bran, and to leave the bin to sit for an additional week or two.
