Winter transport concern

Marko asked 6 years ago

I’m interested in buying the Bokashi Starter Kit. I live in an area that is currently seeing temperatures drop below freezing. I’m concerned that tranpost and delivery of the EM bacteria would end up killing them along the way before they can get inside my nice warm home.

Would you recommend waiting until the spring to place my order? Does your transportation ensure care for this temperature constraint.

Thank you!

Great question! In a nutshell, you don’t need to be worried about temperatures affecting the microbes during the shipping process. It’s more the long term storing temperature that is a concern. During shipping, depending on the destination, we use a combination of air and ground transport. The cargo areas in both these transport methods is controlled and kept above freezing temperatures. Along the way, packages can also sit overnight in heated warehouses as well, depending on the destination.

Happy composting!
